(Buffy takes Faith's hand while wearing the katra, causing their bodies to switch back to normal. Faith runs away, while Buffy stares with a confused look on her face, while grabbing her chest).

For all his bluster, it is the sad province of man that he cannot choose his trials. He can only choose how he will stand when the call of destiny comes, hoping that he'll have the courage to answer.

Where does it come from? This quest, this need to solve life's mysteries when the simplest of questions can never be answered? Why are we here? What is the soul? Why do we dream? Perhaps we'd be better off not looking at all. Not delivering, not yearning. That's not human nature. Not the human heart. That is not why we are here.

I grew up thinking I was unworthy in the eyes of God, instead of trusting God not to be an ignorant, frightened biggot. Because of this, I made myself crazy. I put myself in danger. I made a lot of mistakes. Big mistakes. Which could have been avoided if I just had faith. Faith that maybe God really is love, like we say. How am I supposed to spread God's love throughout the world when I deny it to myself?
